Where Did "Patriots" Come From?
Patriots Gateway Community Center was started in 1995, started by the community members of Zion Lutheran Church. The original name was Zion Community Center and was changed in 1997. Roger Reno offered a million dollar naming gift and suggested the center be named after George Washington or a founding father. Pastor Bitner suggested the name "Patriot" and it gave us the chance to remember what is "patriot". Patriots have been amending the "we the people" founding documents so that our community and country represent "more of the people" who have gateways to the promise of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We are grateful to encourage children and youth to become Patriots. Our Patriots pledge: "I am a patriot. I am responsible for what I say and do. I choose to be respectful, honest and caring. I work hard to achieve my goals. I am a patriot". We are patriots, people who are continue to build a larger gateway, providing opportunities for "all of the people" who make up our beautiful community.
